Okta is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and improve developer-facing tools and experiences for Auth0, their authentication and authorization platform serving over 100 million daily logins globally. You will work primarily with JavaScript and TypeScript across browser and Node.js environments, developing SDKs, libraries, CLI tooling, Quickstarts, code samples, and implementation guidance. In this role, you will own the full lifecycle of developer tools: designing intuitive APIs and libraries, maintaining open-source CLIs and SDKs, writing and curating developer resources including tutorials and documentation, and troubleshooting integration issues. You'll work closely with engineering, product, documentation, support, developer relations, and community teams to identify and remove friction from the developer journey. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining libraries for seamless Auth0 integration, directly shaping open-source CLIs and SDKs, owning code samples and implementation guidance, improving Quickstart guides and onboarding experiences, gathering and channeling user feedback, serving as a subject-matter expert, and engaging directly with the developer community at conferences and events. You should have 5+ years of professional experience with JavaScript and TypeScript, including Node.js development and API specifications. You'll need hands-on experience building and maintaining production-grade libraries, CLIs, SDKs, or similar developer tools, with demonstrated open-source contributions. Strong knowledge of the JavaScript ecosystem (frontend, backend, testing frameworks) and experience with frameworks like React, Vue, Angular, or Next.js is essential. You should be comfortable with CI/CD practices and platforms like GitHub Actions or CircleCI, have shipped and maintained production applications, and demonstrated experience authoring developer documentation. The role values clear communication, self-direction, and the ability to structure APIs, code, and documentation for both developers and AI agents.
