Okta is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and scale intelligent automation across its Enterprise Technology ecosystem. The role focuses on reducing manual operational work, improving developer productivity, and accelerating the software delivery lifecycle across platforms including Salesforce, NetSuite, AEM, Boomi, identity systems, CI/CD platforms, and other enterprise applications.
Key responsibilities include building reliable automation services and reusable integration patterns that leverage AI-assisted developer agents. These agents will understand source code, metadata, configuration, tickets, documentation, deployment history, and operational context to automate release activities, identify deployment risks, reduce merge-conflict resolution effort, improve environment management, and enable safe self-service operations.
The engineer will work on intelligent automation and developer productivity initiatives, including building AI-assisted agents that reduce repetitive engineering work, automating release planning and deployment coordination, and developing tools that detect and resolve merge conflicts. Cross-platform enterprise automation is a core focus, requiring design and implementation across Salesforce, NetSuite, AEM, Boomi, Okta, GitHub, CI/CD systems, and ticketing platforms.
Salesforce platform engineering expertise is essential, including designing Flows, Apex utilities, implementing security controls (Profiles, Permission Sets, FLS, Sharing Rules, Shield, Event Monitoring), and building data masking processes. The role also encompasses release, CI/CD, and environment automation—eliminating manual deployment steps, building CI/CD integrations for metadata validation and testing, automating sandbox refreshes, and maintaining automation code in GitHub.
Security and governance are paramount. The engineer will implement least-privilege access for service accounts and integrations, apply guardrails and human approval controls to high-risk automation, and partner with Security and DevSecOps teams to establish standards. The ideal candidate combines software engineering expertise, enterprise application knowledge, API and integration development skills, CI/CD automation experience, security engineering background, and practical experience applying AI to developer and operational workflows.
