Salary: USD 221,187 - 221,187 / annual
Lightning AI is the company behind PyTorch Lightning, building an end-to-end platform for developing, training, and deploying AI systems. Founded in 2019 and recently merged with Voltage Park (a neocloud and AI Factory), Lightning AI combines developer-first software with cost-efficient, large-scale compute. You will design and implement microservices-based architecture for Lightning AI's core platform services. This is a hybrid role with occasional telecommuting allowed within commuting distance of the San Francisco office.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services for resource management
- Develop internal tools and automation for infrastructure provisioning
- Integrate with various cloud provider services (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Contribute to technical design decisions and architecture planning
- Review code and provide constructive feedback to team members
- Mentor junior software engineers and promote software engineering best practices
- Participate in technical planning and sprint planning sessions
- Design and implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement fixes
- Develop disaster recovery and backup strategies
- Optimize system performance and resource utilization

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related technical field (or foreign degree equivalent)
- 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience
- 5+ years of experience in backend/distributed systems
- 5+ years of experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, and/or Azure)
- 5+ years of experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and microservices architecture
- 5+ years of experience with programming languages such as Go, Python, and/or Java
- 5+ years of experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform and/or CloudFormation)
- 5+ years of experience with networking, security, and scalability concepts
