LeoLabs is building the living map of activity in space through a proprietary global radar network and AI-enabled analytics platform. The company collects millions of measurements daily on 25,000+ objects in low Earth orbit, providing space domain awareness and satellite operations intelligence to commercial and government customers.
You will join the Cloud Software team as a Senior Software Engineer, contributing to mission-critical systems that power real-time decisions for protecting and managing satellites and orbital objects. The team owns multiple technical domains: orbit maintenance and tracking for every LEO object, high-level customer analytics, large-volume data pipelines for AI/ML model training, radar network orchestration and tasking, and APIs/UIs with strict uptime SLAs.
Key responsibilities include designing and delivering full-stack software for DOD/IC contracts, translating customer needs into engineering requirements through stakeholder engagement, ensuring reliability and security across production systems, owning critical system components through their full lifecycle (development, operation, monitoring, on-call), and leveraging generative AI to improve software quality and security.
Required: active TS/SCI clearance with DOD/IC delivery experience, B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent, 5+ years professional software engineering with significant cloud-scale systems experience, proven ability building and operating distributed backend services, proficiency in Python/Go or similar, expertise with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), containerization, relational databases (Postgres/MySQL), message brokers (Kafka/SQS), observability, and CI/CD. Strong communication skills and willingness to participate in on-call rotation required. Experience and enthusiasm with generative AI for development is expected.
