As a Senior Backend Software Engineer in Lisbon, you will drive the core product used by the growing customer base and work on high-impact projects that help customers turn user data into powerful personalization. You'll contribute to technical design, help raise the engineering bar across the team, and collaborate with teams in Lisbon and the US on multiple functional initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Contributing to team roadmap and planning sessions to enhance customer value
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, product, and design to conceptualize and build new features
- Owning the entire lifecycle of projects from engineering design through development, deployment, and production success
- Developing solutions to scale a complex platform reaching millions of users
- Contributing to code review processes and helping define coding standards
- Leveraging design discussions to level up the team and product
You'll work with a modern technology stack including Scala, GraphQL, Redis, CockroachDB, Postgres, and Elasticsearch. The role requires 5+ years of relevant software development experience, proficiency in modern programming languages (ideally Scala and/or Java), extensive experience with Elasticsearch or similar technologies, and willingness to take on-call responsibilities. You must be legally authorized to work in the EU and fluent in English.
Bonus experience includes end-to-end and integration testing, building enterprise systems at scale, and prior experience at companies with strong US presence.
