HeartFlow is a publicly traded medical technology company (HTFL) pioneering AI-driven solutions for coronary artery disease diagnosis and management. The company's flagship product, HeartFlow FFR_CT Analysis, is a non-invasive cardiac test that provides 3D visualization of coronary arteries and blood flow assessment, supported by ACC/AHA guidelines and deployed across the US, UK, Europe, Japan, and Canada with over 500,000 patient uses.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key architectural role in building HeartFlow's next-generation distributed platform that seamlessly integrates cloud services with complex on-premise hospital Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. You will own the design and delivery of significant components within the interoperability domain, improving how clinical data is processed, modeled, and delivered across the enterprise.
Key responsibilities include:
• Design and develop HeartFlow's interoperability services, creating the technical bridge between on-premise hospital EHR systems and AWS cloud infrastructure
• Implement data modeling and persistence strategies for complex clinical data supporting a unified platform vision for heart disease management
• Build and maintain mission-critical data acquisition and ingestion pipelines ensuring seamless, scalable, and secure extraction and normalization of patient data from diverse hospital networks
• Develop highly reliable, secure, low-maintenance APIs leveraging REST alongside healthcare standards (FHIR, HL7) to connect on-premise hospital components to cloud infrastructure
• Ensure data flows and system integrations adhere to FDA and regulatory standards
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to system design discussions
Required expertise:
• Strong Python development proficiency with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles
• Experience architecting robust microservices and event-driven architectures at scale
• Healthcare interoperability background: EHR system integration and healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7)
• Data modeling and designing scalable persistence layers for complex, high-volume data systems
• Modern cloud ecosystem experience (AWS) and secure RESTful API design
• Technical leadership: mentoring engineers, system design contribution, establishing software development best practices and testing strategies
• Expertise in comprehensive testing strategies (Unit, Functional, System-level) for mission-critical applications
You are passionate about realizing a unified platform vision for heart disease management, championing engineering excellence, and taking ownership of features and components with autonomy.
