EarnIn is a fintech pioneer in earned wage access, enabling paycheck-to-paycheck workers to access their earnings in real-time without mandatory fees, interest rates, or credit checks. You'll join the Live Pay team as a Senior Backend Software Engineer, working on core platform services that directly impact millions of community members. This is a remote role with the option to work hybrid from the Mexico City office as part of EarnIn's expanding site.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement new features, translating complex problems into elegant, maintainable code
- Build robust microservices integrations using REST/gRPC APIs and event-driven messaging patterns (Kafka, SNS/SQS, Kinesis)
- Create and maintain comprehensive test automation to enable continuous integration and development velocity
- Debug production issues across distributed services infrastructure
- Mentor other engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and architectural guidance
- Collaborate cross-functionally with data science, product, design, marketing, and analytics teams
- Work with distributed systems while maintaining high code quality standards
Required qualifications:
- 4+ years of software engineering experience
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in computer science, computer engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent industry experience
- Proficiency in at least one JVM language (Java, Kotlin, Scala)
- Experience with major frameworks like Spring or Spring Boot
- Hands-on SQL database experience (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle); NoSQL experience is a plus
- Cloud environment experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Streaming and messaging technology experience (Kafka, AWS SNS/SQS, Kinesis)
- CI/CD tools and functional/integration testing expertise
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desirable qualifications include Kubernetes and microservice architecture experience, plus familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Cursor, LLMs).
