You will join the Money Movement systems team, which owns business-critical backend services that move billions of dollars annually across multiple payment rails (debit, RTP, and others). These always-on production services handle real-time and scheduled transfers, outcome tracking, reconciliation, and management of returns, chargebacks, and other events. Reliability is as important as feature velocity.
In this role, you will:
- Design and implement new features by breaking down complex problems and translating them into elegant, maintainable code
- Own service health through on-call participation, incident response, and blameless postmortems
- Integrate AI tools into your daily workflow—design, coding, testing, debugging, and incident response—while maintaining accountability for quality and safety
- Improve reliability and observability by building monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and runbooks
- Debug production issues across the services infrastructure and stack
- Design robust microservice integrations via REST/gRPC APIs and messaging patterns (events/queues)
- Create and maintain test automation to enable continuous integration and development velocity
- Mentor other engineers through code, design, and architecture reviews, coaching teammates on operational readiness
- Collaborate cross-functionally with data science, design, product, finance, accounting, and analytics teams
- Work with distributed systems and care deeply about code quality
The position is ideally hybrid at the Mexico City office as part of an expanding site, though remote work is possible. EarnIn offers healthcare, internet and cell phone reimbursement, a learning and development stipend, and potential travel opportunities to headquarters in Mountain View.
**Requirements:**
- Proven experience supporting live, production services, including on-call rotation and incident response under pressure
- 4+ years of delivering value through software in a collaborative environment
- Required: experience working in microservice architectures
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Datadog) and a track record of improving service reliability (better alerting, faster recovery, fewer repeat incidents)
- Hands-on experience using AI coding and productivity tools in day-to-day engineering work, with good judgment about when to trust their output and when to verify it
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language and ability to understand more than one; the team currently works in C#
- Hands-on experience with SQL databases
- Experience with continuous integration and delivery tools
- Experience developing and executing functional and integration tests
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear communication during incidents
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Plus: experience with financial systems, payments, or ledgers where correctness and auditability are critical
