Salary: CNY 804,949 - 1,088,971 / annual
Duolingo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Monetization Pillar, which drives the company's core business through subscriptions, ads, and in-app purchases. In this role, you will develop and refine backend systems that power Duolingo's monetization strategy, working cross-functionally with product, design, data science, machine learning, and ad operations teams.
You will collaborate on software projects spanning product design and backend infrastructure, develop and maintain high-performance backend services, lead individual project priorities and milestones, and ensure consistent shipping velocity. The role focuses on building scalable systems that support Duolingo's mission to educate half a billion learners worldwide while sustaining the business model.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design, and production experience programming in Java, Python, or Kotlin. You should have a solid understanding of database technologies.
Exceptional candidates will have experience building high-traffic APIs using public cloud providers and familiarity with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, or DataDog.
