Salary: USD 182,800 - 247,300 / annual
Duolingo is seeking a Senior iOS Software Engineer to join the Onboarding team, responsible for building and shipping features that drive user growth and deliver high-quality learning experiences to millions of learners worldwide. In this role, you will collaborate closely with product managers and designers to create engaging experiences for new users, working across the iOS and backend stack to run experiments and improve key metrics like daily active users (DAU) and new user day 7 retention (NUD7).
You will develop, release, and maintain native iOS applications primarily in Swift, contribute to code reviews, and collaborate across teams to ensure code quality and scalability. This is a fast-moving, high-impact position focused on improving the new user experience and contributing to Duolingo's mission of making world-class education universally available to its half-billion-plus learner base.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, 5–10 years of programming experience in Swift, strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design, and a commitment to Duolingo's educational mission. Relocation to Beijing, China is required. Exceptional candidates may have an active Duolingo streak and proficiency in both spoken and written English.
