DocuSign is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Storage as a Service (STaaS) team, which builds the internal storage platform enabling product teams to provision and use durable storage across cloud providers without managing implementation details. The platform abstracts DocuSign's PostgreSQL, Redis, Key/Value, Blob, and Universal Bus offerings across Google Cloud and Azure.
You will design and implement services, APIs, automation, and abstractions that make storage easier and safer for teams across the company. Key responsibilities include building the STaaS control plane with logical resource provisioning, lifecycle management, and policy enforcement; developing and maintaining Terraform providers and infrastructure-as-code integrations; creating data-plane abstractions using standard protocols and client libraries; and designing platform capabilities for multi-tenancy, encryption, quota management, and safe access boundaries.
The role spans control-plane provisioning, Terraform-based infrastructure as code, cloud-native data-plane integrations, migration paths, autoscaling, observability, and operational tooling. You will work with services including Google AlloyDB, Azure PostgreSQL Flexible Server, Google Memorystore, Azure Managed Redis, Google Firestore, Azure Cosmos DB, Google Cloud Storage, Azure Blob Storage, Google Pub/Sub, and Azure Service Bus.
This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Sr. Manager, Engineering. You will mentor and coach engineers, perform design and code reviews, and lead cross-team initiatives that raise the technical bar and platform reliability.
Required: 8+ years hands-on software development in object-oriented languages (C#, C++, Java); 5+ years with cloud deployment and configuration tools (Terraform); experience designing scalable storage systems, distributed systems, APIs, and platform services; experience with managed PostgreSQL, Redis, NoSQL, object storage, or messaging systems; infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform; ability to design abstractions that hide infrastructure complexity while preserving reliability and security.
Preferred: Agile/Scrum experience, SaaS environment background, Kubernetes and large-scale microservice architecture knowledge, proficiency in full software development lifecycle (Git, CI/CD, testing, regional deployments), interest in highly available systems.
