The company is generating the richest multimodal dataset ever collected to build a new class of foundation models. As Senior Software Engineer, you will own the backend architecture for data collection and infrastructure. You'll architect a fault-tolerant data ingestion engine capable of handling intermittent sensor connectivity, hardware failures, and network issues without data loss. You'll design a hybrid on-premise and cloud infrastructure supporting TB-scale daily data ingestion from heterogeneous peripherals (USB, BLE, TCP/IP, etc.). Key responsibilities include: - Architecting fault-tolerant data ingestion with robust multi-process applications for concurrent streams - Building a unified device abstraction layer for seamless heterogeneous data ingestion - Optimizing I/O-bound operations and tracking bandwidth/latency - Defining storage topology for TB-scale daily ingestion, selecting efficient file formats (Video, Audio, Text, Timeseries) and designing optimized database schemas - Managing on-premise server provisioning and configuration - Building synchronization logic to move terabytes from edge buffers to central cloud repository - Collaborating with the AI team to design data infrastructure delivering high-performance, training-ready datasets Required qualifications: 3+ years shipping production-grade backend systems; expert-level proficiency in Python, Rust, C++, or Go; proficiency with high-performance messaging/queuing (ZeroMQ, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis); strong cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, GCP, Azure); experience with low-latency streaming protocols (WebRTC, RTSP, HLS); programmatic video processing (FFmpeg, GStreamer, OpenCV); high-performance data transfer techniques (zero-copy networking, shared memory, memory-mapped files); time-series databases (TimescaleDB, InfluxDB, ClickHouse) and data lake formats (Parquet, Avro, Arrow); solid networking fundamentals; adaptability and creativity; passion for human well-being; thrives in collaborative environments. Nice-to-have: familiarity with ML frameworks (PyTorch/TensorFlow), dataset optimization for GPU utilization, interest in neurotech/mental health/human-AI interaction.
