As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead and drive specific projects critical to Checkout's strategic needs, with opportunities to switch teams and projects as the business evolves. You'll work with cross-functional teams including product management across a large engineering community to design and develop next-generation payments technologies that help merchants boost acceptance rates, reduce processing costs, and fight fraud.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with technical expertise
- Designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions
- Defining and designing loosely coupled, scalable systems using microservices and industry best practices
- Writing clean, maintainable, extendable, and testable code on high-impact systems
- Building, owning, and operating systems to the highest levels of resilience and service
- Mentoring junior team members and assisting in their technical development
- Staying current with and spreading knowledge of the latest technologies
- Collaborating effectively with stakeholders across the organization

Checkout.com operates a hybrid model with three days per week in the office to support collaboration and connection.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Proficiency in .NET C#, Java, or Go, with strong understanding of software development principles in backend or full-stack environments
- Great communication skills and ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Experience working in agile environments and delivering high-quality code within tight deadlines
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Payments or financial knowledge is a plus but not required
