Salary: USD 176,000 - 238,000 / annual

You will join the Query Engine and Core Mining teams, working alongside experienced ex-FAANG engineers to develop state-of-the-art technology. The team creates foundational solutions including a mining engine for interactive process mining over enterprise-scale datasets and object-centric modeling tools for process-oriented business analysis. The company is heavily investing in performance and scalability to support strong customer growth in a multi-cloud environment.
In this role, you will develop and implement new features and algorithms for the core engine, increasing reliability and performance of existing components. Your responsibilities include:
- Identify and implement novel query optimization, transaction management, and distributed data processing algorithms in the Core Mining Engine
- Analyze and solve performance and scalability bottlenecks in the system
- Address issues from logical execution plan representations to efficient resource management and highly parallel vectorized execution
- Design and implement critical high-performance systems to handle growing request rates on the database
- Evangelize best practices in database usage and end-to-end architecture
- Mentor and grow teammates, setting an example through your work
- Improve the developer work environment and contribute to engineering culture
- Write clean, understandable, and testable code with peer feedback
- Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
- Document development procedures, concepts, and knowledge
- Build, launch, and maintain features in production

QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in Computer Science; Masters or Ph.D. preferred
- 3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
- Significant background in database internals or building core components (query optimization, query execution, storage engines, transaction processing) for large-scale data processing systems (e.g., Starrocks, ClickHouse, etc.)
- Experienced in programming with C++ (17)
- Analytical mind with good understanding of complex data structures and algorithms in data management
- Curiosity about how things work and desire to improve them
