Salary: CAD 255,900 - 318,600 / annual
Babylist is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own hard problems end-to-end. As a Senior Engineer, you'll take on complex challenges spanning the registry, financial products for new parents, maternal health, education, and community features. You'll work across the full stack—deciding what to build, shipping it, and validating whether it worked.
Your responsibilities include framing problems with PMs as peers, running experiments, hardening critical paths, designing abstractions your team builds on, and being the reviewer people want on risky changes. You'll manage tradeoffs, raise risks early, and share learnings about AI across the team.
Current problems the team is solving: deciding what the registry recommends to each family and proving it helps via live experiments; building evals systems to catch AI support agents making things up; and creating a single source of truth for child information across disconnected flows.
You're a generalist with years of production systems experience and strong judgment. You pick up ambiguous problems and move fast before the full picture emerges. The strongest Senior engineers here are prolific builders who go wherever the problem leads—backend services, frontend bugs, data pipelines—and learn unfamiliar stack areas quickly.
Babylist's tech stack includes Rails, React, TypeScript, Sidekiq, iOS (Swift), Android (Kotlin), MySQL, Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Weaviate, AWS SageMaker, and AI tooling like Claude Code and Devin. The architecture is intentionally simple: one Rails monolith with few moving parts, letting the team move fast and AI reason about the whole system.
