Archer is building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed to carry four passengers with minimal noise, advancing sustainable air mobility. The company is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Airline Operations Software Ecosystem team—a small, elite group building mission-critical software for aircraft operations. In this role, you will own the full software development lifecycle for backend and AI-integrated frontend systems. Your responsibilities include designing and implementing backend infrastructure (database schemas, API architecture, orchestration services), building web and mobile applications that translate product requirements into reliable, high-quality systems, and architecting the tech stack that serves as the platform backbone while balancing scalability, speed, and reliability. You will lead end-to-end technical execution, collaborate with design, data science, and aviation experts to enhance features, and implement machine learning and deep learning algorithms developed by the AI/ML research team. You'll also leverage code-generation technologies to streamline workflows and contribute to the product roadmap by prototyping technical tools for aircraft performance and dispatch settings. Required qualifications include 5+ years of post-college or entrepreneurial experience, a Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent demonstrated technical achievement), and end-to-end software development experience from frontend to backend to cloud deployment. You should have a rich GitHub history with personal projects or open-source contributions, the ability to create intuitive products independently, strong understanding of implementing AI systems into SaaS products, familiarity with serverless and microservice architectures on major cloud platforms, and experience managing production-grade CI/CD pipelines. Experience with voice agents and rapid iteration on customer needs is essential. Bonus qualifications include infrastructure expertise with Kubernetes, S3, RDS, SQS, Lambda, Docker, and Temporal Orchestration Service.
