Applied Intuition UK is a software and infrastructure supplier delivering next-generation autonomous capabilities to defense and national security customers across air, land, sea, and space domains. As a Senior Software Engineer on the UK engineering team, you will have a dynamic role spanning field deployment, product design, and technical leadership.
Your responsibilities include leading the design, development, and optimization of new tools and products from incubation through production deployment. You will write, test, and debug efficient modern C++ code for complex software solutions, integrate customer and partner software into products, and work closely with product managers to translate requirements into technical solutions. A key part of the role involves training and mentoring junior engineers as the UK team grows, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement. You will also identify process and code inefficiencies to ensure the team operates at peak effectiveness.
The role offers variety: some days you'll be in the field working alongside forward deployment teams integrating with customer platforms; other days you'll be leading architectural design for new products serving diverse customer and partner requirements. You'll build software you're proud of and see it deployed in real-world national security applications.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related engineering field, 5+ years of hands-on experience developing performant modern C++, strong procedural and object-oriented programming skills with clean code principles, and experience with Docker, containerized development environments, and Linux-based operating systems. You must have the ability to hold UK Security Clearance (current or previous clearance preferred).
Nice-to-have qualifications include 7+ years of C++ and Python experience, distributed systems and simulation technology background, familiarity with Bazel and Nix, infrastructure deployment experience, and prior work on national security projects for government agencies. The role requires general willingness to travel between Applied Intuition offices and customer sites.
