Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the LatticeOS team, the foundational AI-powered operating system that powers autonomous systems, sensors, and third-party integrations across defense and aerospace applications. This role focuses on designing and developing core platform services, middleware, and operating system components that run onboard autonomous vehicles and edge devices in the most demanding operational environments. You will design and implement core components and middleware for LatticeOS, develop robust fault-tolerant distributed systems capable of operating reliably over denied, degraded, or intermittent communications links, and create interfaces and APIs that enable internal teams and external partners to integrate seamlessly through the Lattice SDK. Close collaboration with hardware, autonomy, and application teams is essential to ensure diverse physical platforms can reliably run and interact with the core operating system. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field (or equivalent experience), 5+ years of professional software development with focus on systems programming, distributed systems, or robotics, deep expertise in C++, Rust, or similar systems programming languages, and proficiency with protocol design and serialization (gRPC, Protobuf, Zenoh, DDS). You should have experience building high-throughput data processing and system orchestration solutions, excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, and a commitment to working on mission-critical infrastructure with real-world impact. Preferred qualifications include experience developing operating systems, middleware, SDKs, or developer platforms; background in defense, aerospace, robotics, or mission-critical systems; familiarity with embedded systems, Linux internals, or resource-constrained environments; and strong understanding of distributed communication networks and modern messaging standards. U.S. Person status is required due to access to export-controlled information.
