Salary: USD 191,000 - 253,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the LatticeOS team, the foundational AI-powered operating system that powers the company's family of autonomous systems, sensors, and third-party integrations. LatticeOS spans edge devices, robotic platforms, and cloud infrastructure, creating a unified operating environment for system orchestration, secure data distribution, and real-time execution across mission-critical defense applications.
In this role, you will design and develop core platform services, middleware, and operating system components that run onboard autonomous vehicles and edge devices. You'll collaborate closely with hardware, autonomy, and application teams to create a highly reliable, performant, and secure platform that abstracts complex hardware and networking into clean software interfaces.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement core components and middleware for LatticeOS running on autonomous vehicles and edge devices
- Develop robust, fault-tolerant distributed systems capable of operating reliably over denied, degraded, or intermittent communications links
- Create interfaces, APIs, and tooling that enable internal teams and third-party partners to integrate seamlessly with LatticeOS through the Lattice SDK
- Collaborate with autonomy and hardware teams to ensure diverse physical platforms can reliably run and interact with the core operating system
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field (or equivalent experience), 5+ years of professional software development with focus on systems programming, distributed systems, or robotics, deep experience with C++, Rust, or similar systems programming languages, proficiency with protocol design and serialization (gRPC, Protobuf, Zenoh, DDS), and experience building high-throughput data processing solutions. US Person status required due to export-controlled information access.
Preferred qualifications include experience developing operating systems, middleware, SDKs, or developer platforms; background in defense, aerospace, robotics, or mission-critical applications; familiarity with embedded systems, Linux internals, or resource-constrained environments; and strong understanding of distributed communication networks and modern messaging standards.
