Klaviyo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Asynchronous Processing team, which designs and operates the company's high-scale, event-driven backbone. This team enables every product team to reliably move data through systems with confidence, regardless of volume. In this role, you will architect, build, and operate large-scale, event-driven infrastructure using Golang, Python, Apache Pulsar, Kafka, SQS, AWS, and Kubernetes. You'll design resilient, multi-tenant queueing and processing platforms capable of handling massive traffic spikes and processing millions of messages per second with low latency. Your work will provide self-service APIs and tooling that empower product teams to move fast and confidently. Key responsibilities include: - Building deep understanding of engineering needs across the organization and guiding design of platform primitives that align with vision and empower product teams - Designing, developing, and delivering software to improve availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of asynchronous and queueing services - Leveraging Python, Golang, AWS, and Kubernetes to advance the platform with focus on Apache Pulsar, SQS, and Kafka - Championing best practices through technical design review and collaboration - Mentoring and pairing with other engineers on performance, self-healing systems, and defensive programming - Participating in on-call duties focused on solving issues, preventing recurrences, and minimizing alert fatigue You bring 6+ years of hands-on software development experience building and operating highly available, full-stack SaaS products at scale. You independently own the full lifecycle of complex projects from discovery through maintenance, provide clear technical direction, and own operational health including performance, reliability, and observability. You're comfortable with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), and Kubernetes, with expertise in asynchronous processing systems.
