Snowflake is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Apps & Experiences Platform team, which powers backend systems and services for user-facing applications including Snowsight, Snowflake Intelligence, and mobile experiences. In this role, you will design, build, and operate scalable backend services and cloud-native infrastructure that support millions of users. You'll contribute across the full development lifecycle—from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, and operational excellence—while collaborating with engineers, product managers, and cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities include architecting and building reliable, scalable backend systems; improving system reliability, scalability, and performance; building and operating Kubernetes-based cloud-native infrastructure; debugging complex production issues in distributed systems; and enhancing internal developer tools, including an AI-powered coding agent that enables self-serve feature development through prompts. You'll participate in architecture discussions, shape technical direction and engineering best practices, and contribute to a strong engineering culture through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring.
The ideal candidate has 6+ years of experience designing and building large-scale distributed or user-facing systems in production environments. You should have strong software engineering fundamentals, hands-on experience with highly reliable and scalable backend systems, and production experience building and operating services on Kubernetes. A strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, container orchestration, service reliability, and observability is essential. Experience with distributed systems, APIs, cloud infrastructure, or developer platforms is highly valued. Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus. You should have strong coding and debugging skills, the ability to navigate complex system architectures, and excellent collaboration and communication skills. A BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience, is required.
