Adyen is a global financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products for enterprise customers including Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. This role is part of the team that owns and operates Adyen's in-store payment method integrations, focusing on low-level integration layers, payment kernels, and PCI compliance standards that power payment processing for retailers worldwide. As a Senior Kotlin Engineer, you will develop solutions for payment terminals with capabilities including credit/debit card acceptance, Apple Pay and Google Pay integration, QR code payments, backend communication, and integration with various point-of-sale systems. Your primary focus will be developing business logic in Kotlin for deployment on both Android and Linux-based payment terminals, as well as backend systems. You will own features end-to-end—from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and monitoring. Your code will be validated through comprehensive testing methods ranging from unit tests to automated integration testing with programmable robots. You are expected to take ownership, propose improvements, and drive innovation while maintaining sustainable and secure solutions. The role requires deep expertise in Kotlin (5+ years), Android platform development (8+ years), and enterprise SDK development. You must demonstrate expert-level knowledge of Android SDK, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Gradle, and dependency injection patterns. Strong testing practices, mentorship capability, and excellent English communication are essential. Nice-to-have skills include Kotlin Multiplatform experience, C/C++/Python knowledge, EMV/ISO8583 payment standards familiarity, and prior payment industry experience.
