Tripadvisor Experiences Engineering is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Android) to join its fast-growing mobile team. The role is based in Oxford or London with a remote-first working model and periodic in-person gatherings for team collaboration and planning.
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Android app for Tripadvisor's world-leading marketplace for travel experiences, which features 400,000+ travel experiences. Working closely with product managers and designers, you'll be involved in the full software development lifecycle—from design and coding through testing, deployment, and iteration. The team releases code to production every few days with a daily release cycle.
Key responsibilities include:
- Writing high-quality code across the Android app and backend microservices
- Collaborating with product and design teams to define feature specifications and develop customer-facing deliverables
- Taking ownership of all aspects of software engineering, from architecture to implementation, developer experience, QA, and maintenance
- Working alongside engineering teams globally
- Breaking down complex technical problems into elegant, simple solutions
Required qualifications:
- At least 5 years of commercial software development experience
- Proven experience developing Android apps
- Familiarity with mobile web and backend technologies
- Experience with reactive programming in native mobile platforms
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Sense of ownership and pride in your work
- Willingness to adopt new technologies
