Tripadvisor Experiences Engineering is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Android) to join its fast-growing mobile team. The role is based in the UK with office hubs in Oxford or London, operating on a remote-first model with periodic in-person gatherings for team connection and collaboration. Candidates should be within commutable distance (1–2 hours) of either office.
You will focus primarily on Android app development while also having opportunities to work on backend microservices. Your responsibilities include writing production-quality code, collaborating closely with product managers and designers to define feature specifications, and taking ownership of all aspects of software engineering—from design and implementation through QA and maintenance. The team releases code to production every few days with a daily release cycle.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Android applications for the world's leading marketplace for travel experiences
- Collaborate with product and design teams to define specifications and deliver high-quality features
- Work across the full software engineering lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and iteration
- Contribute to backend microservices alongside app development
- Partner with engineering teams globally
Required qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of commercial software development experience
- Proven experience developing Android apps
- Familiarity with mobile web and backend technologies
- Experience with reactive programming in native mobile platforms
- Ability to break down complex problems into simple, elegant solutions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Sense of ownership and pride in your work
- Willingness to adopt new technologies
