Okta is seeking an experienced Senior Android Engineer to join the Universal Components team. This role focuses on building, architecting, and maintaining open-source UI components, SDKs, and libraries for the Okta Customer Identity Cloud (CIC) platform, which powers Auth0 and handles over 100 million daily logins globally. You will leverage deep Android expertise and a developer-first mindset to create exceptional developer experiences. Key responsibilities include architecting and developing composable, production-ready UI components using Jetpack Compose and traditional XML views; directly shaping and maintaining open-source Universal Components Android SDKs; authoring comprehensive technical content including tutorials, guides, sample applications, and API documentation; engaging with the open-source developer community to provide domain expertise and technical support; serving as the go-to technical expert for code reviews and quality standards; representing the company at conferences and tech events; and troubleshooting complex issues while keeping pace with modern Android architecture standards. You will work in a cross-functional environment alongside developer relations, onboarding, growth, dashboard, and core SDK teams. The role requires deep empathy for developers, self-direction, and strong collaboration skills. Required qualifications: 5+ years of professional native Android development with Kotlin and Java; 3+ years of hands-on experience building production interfaces with Jetpack Compose; proven ability to translate design mocks into clean, modular, accessible Compose code; strong track record developing reusable Android UI libraries or SDKs; deep understanding of Android frameworks and ecosystem; experience deploying to Google Play Store or publishing to Maven Central; and expertise with CI/CD platforms and automated testing in continuous integration environments.
