Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Air & Missile Defense team in Broomfield, Colorado. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with deep individual contribution on mission-critical defense systems. You will shape the technical direction of a small, high-impact team while remaining deeply engaged in design, implementation, and code review. Key responsibilities include mentoring and upleveling junior and mid-level engineers through pair programming, code reviews, and architectural discussions. You'll lead by example, writing production-quality C++ and Python code that powers mission-critical systems while setting the bar for engineering excellence in CI/CD, unit testing, and large-codebase collaboration. The role spans prototyping state-of-the-art software solutions in agile environments and guiding teams from prototype to deployed tactical implementation. You'll implement high-performance software across tactical systems and web applications, use high-fidelity modeling and simulation environments, and drive technical interchange meetings with customers to ensure mission-critical outcomes. You'll own all aspects of the software development lifecycle, helping teams navigate ambiguity and complex technical trade-offs, and communicate complex concepts clearly to colleagues, customers, and non-technical stakeholders. Required qualifications include 8+ years of software engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. You must demonstrate experience mentoring junior engineers and providing technical leadership while contributing as a hands-on individual contributor. Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python is essential, along with direct experience in air and missile defense domains such as multi-target tracking, sensor fusion, threat classification, kill chain development, or command-and-control systems (IBCS, Patriot, Aegis, or similar programs). Additional requirements include expertise in big data/NoSQL/database technologies, software design and optimization, applied mathematics (differential equations, linear algebra, optimization, statistics), and engineering fundamentals (controls, estimation theory, digital signal processing). You must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance. Preferred qualifications include experience leading small teams or technical workstreams as a top individual contributor, a track record of growing engineers through mentorship and code review culture, experience with asynchronous, parallel, and GPU programming, and prior deployment of software to real-world tactical/edge environments.
