Octopus Energy, Britain's largest energy supplier as of 2025, is building a new AI team and seeking a Senior Software Engineer to serve as a founding member. The company is transitioning from ad-hoc AI experiments to establishing a safe, scalable, and lightweight AI capability across the organization.
In this role, you will architect and build central developer tools and production gates for AI systems. You'll work directly with cross-functional business teams including Software Engineering, Operations, Services, and Finance to co-build live AI features and accelerate adoption across local teams.
As a founding engineer on this new initiative, you'll have significant influence over technical direction, standards, and best practices. You'll be responsible for establishing frameworks that enable other teams to safely experiment with and deploy AI solutions while maintaining quality and reliability standards.
