As a Senior Software Engineer on Chime's AI Enablement team, you will build internal platforms, primitives, and guardrails that make AI a trusted co-pilot for employees across the company. You'll work on systems like Archimedes, Bosun, and easyRAG that power internal AI assistants, developer workflows, and retrieval-backed applications. This team defines Chime's golden paths for AI: opinionated but flexible patterns that help teams move quickly while maintaining safety, reliability, cost control, and governance. You'll help turn emerging AI capabilities into durable, reusable platform features that can be adopted across the company. Key responsibilities include: - Build and evolve internal AI platforms (Archimedes, Bosun, easyRAG) enabling teams to develop and scale LLM-powered applications and workflows - Design and implement reusable platform capabilities such as APIs, SDKs, templates, and shared services for safe, high-quality AI-powered tools - Prototype and productionize new AI capabilities, identifying high-leverage use cases and turning successful patterns into durable platform features - Define and improve Chime's golden path patterns for LLM usage, balancing developer velocity with safety, reliability, and cost efficiency - Develop systems that let teams launch AI-powered assistants and workflows in a standardized, observable, and governed way - Establish evaluation, observability, and cost-management practices across AI systems, including quality, latency, safety, and spend - Partner with Security, Risk, and Legal to implement practical guardrails for responsible AI development and usage - Drive consistency and standardization in how AI systems are built, deployed, and operated across the company - Collaborate with engineers and partner teams across Chime to embed AI into internal tools, workflows, and employee experiences - Participate in on-call rotation, responding to incidents outside regular working hours when necessary Chime is a financial technology company (not a bank) that empowers members to take control of their finances. The company operates with a mission-driven culture focused on helping everyday Americans unlock their financial potential. The in-office work policy requires four days a week in the office with Fridays from home for those near an office, plus team and company-wide events depending on location. Fully remote options are available for some roles. REQUIREMENTS: - Significant experience as a software engineer building distributed systems, platform services, or internal developer tools - Hands-on experience building with LLMs or ML services and shipping production-quality features on top of them - Strong coding skills in at least one of Python, Go, or TypeScript/JavaScript, with comfort working across services, CLIs, and internal tooling - Platform mindset: think in reusable primitives, contracts, and paved roads rather than one-off solutions - Familiarity with AI-specific engineering concerns such as evaluation, prompt and version management, observability, cost control, safety, and data privacy - Experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders such as Security, Risk, Product, and Operations, and influencing direction through strong technical judgment - Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical tradeoffs clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
