Redis is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its core Search/Vector team, working on AI-era capabilities including state-of-the-art indexing, vector/hybrid retrieval, and latency-critical serving at global scale. You will design, implement, and optimize core vector and information-retrieval algorithms such as HNSW, Quantization, and re-ranking. The role involves solving complex real-world problems at Internet scale with a strong focus on performance and reliability, implementing hardware-specific optimizations (SIMD, SSD, GPU, CUDA), and collaborating closely with Redis Core, Cloud, and Support teams.
You will lead technical designs, mentor peers, set benchmarks, and build a reputation internally and in the open-source community. This is a unique opportunity to shape Redis capabilities early in the AI cycle, taking features from research to production while improving latency, recall, and cost for millions of developers worldwide.
Required qualifications include 7+ years of senior-level production-grade system experience building databases, search engines, or high-performance distributed/storage systems. You need a solid background in vector/IR search or systems (storage or distributed) with depth in at least one area. Proficiency in C/C++ or Rust is essential, including concurrency, memory safety, and performance optimizations. You should be able to think strategically, define technical design and work breakdown, and influence architectural decisions. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience is required.
Desirable experience includes familiarity with NoSQL databases (especially Redis), contributions to open-source projects, background in high-performance multithreaded systems, and experience with distributed systems in production environments.
