Salary: USD 185,000 - 230,000 / annual
Otter.ai is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and optimize the company's enterprise search infrastructure. The role focuses on building sophisticated search systems that power Otter's meeting transcription and collaboration platform, which has transcribed over 1 billion meetings.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop enterprise search infrastructure using vector databases, full-text search engines, and relational databases
- Implement retrieval augmented generation (RAG) systems, semantic search using embeddings, and text indexing/retrieval techniques
- Develop deep learning-based NLP algorithms to analyze, reformulate, and suggest search queries
- Design and deploy ranking algorithms to deliver relevant results with optimal user experience
- Evaluate and optimize algorithm accuracy using key performance metrics
- Track and analyze end-to-end system performance, leading improvement initiatives
- Stay current with industry developments and emerging technologies
Required qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science or relevant field (PhD preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in search, recommendation, or question-answering systems
- In-depth knowledge of relevance measurement, tuning, and modeling
- Engineering experience with large language models and RAG systems
- Expertise in Python and/or C++
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication abilities to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Preferred: Familiarity with embedding-based search systems.
