Metropolis Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the AeroParker application development team. AeroParker is a pre-book parking and e-commerce platform designed to transform airport parking and reservations into seamless, drive-in, drive-out experiences for millions of users globally.
In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain backend services powering the AeroParker platform. You'll be involved across the entire development lifecycle—from ideation and technical specification through deployment and optimization. Key responsibilities include architecting distributed systems capable of handling high-volume consumer traffic across global airports, moderating technical discussions to evolve the e-commerce architecture, and ensuring production systems remain highly available and secure.
You'll work directly with global partners to build API integrations connecting their products with AeroParker, leverage AI tools to enhance workflows, and mentor other engineers. The role emphasizes best practices in automation testing, TDD/BDD, and CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid iteration. You'll help foster a culture where production incidents are treated as constructive learning opportunities.
Required qualifications include 7+ years of software engineering experience with advanced knowledge of Scala, Java, or related languages. You should have a proven track record designing and delivering large-scale distributed systems and microservices in consumer-facing applications, deep experience with event-driven architectures, and robust knowledge of database technologies (MySQL, PostgreSQL). Strong communication skills are essential for presenting complex technical architecture to both engineering peers and cross-functional stakeholders.
The tech stack includes Java, SpringBoot, JavaScript, MySQL, AWS, and Git/GitHub. Familiarity with TypeScript, React, Snowflake, Datadog, container technologies, and infrastructure-as-code is a plus. Experience with e-commerce platforms, data analysis tools, or complex third-party integrations is valued.
