Salary: USD 180,000 - 220,000 / annual
BitGo (NYSE: BTGO) is a digital asset infrastructure company providing custody, wallets, staking, trading, financing, stablecoins, and settlement services. The company operates as a regulated trust bank and serves thousands of institutions and millions of investors globally.
You will design and evolve the core ledger systems that power BitGo's financial products and client balances. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering and accounting, requiring you to build double-entry ledger primitives that other engineering teams depend on, and to embed financial correctness into product design from inception rather than retrofitting it later.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and extend core ledger infrastructure: accounts, postings, and account-type/ledger structures that underpin all financial products
- Own the chart-of-accounts and reporting surface connecting engineering data to financial statements and downstream reporting
- Bridge on-chain and off-chain systems: balance verification, reconciliation, and proof-of-reserve mechanisms
- Partner with engineering teams early in design to ensure new features correctly model legal entity ownership, ledger placement, pricing, and reconciliation before launch
- Design extensible data models that can absorb new financial products (margin, lending, staking, tokenized assets) without painful migrations
- Review and critique technical designs across multiple systems
- Collaborate directly with Finance, Data Engineering, and Product teams on shared system designs
This is a full-time, onsite role at the NYC office.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Real, working knowledge of accounting fundamentals: double-entry bookkeeping, chart-of-accounts design, financial statements (P&L, balance sheet), reconciliation, and audit requirements in practice
- 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with a track record of owning data-model design for systems where correctness is the product, not just uptime
- Strong instincts for extensible system design—schemas and APIs that grow with requirements instead of requiring repeated rework
- Comfort reading and critiquing technical designs across multiple systems
- Strong cross-functional communication skills
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience in crypto or blockchain infrastructure (on-chain balance models, custody, wallet architecture)
- Experience with event-driven or Kafka-based service architectures
- Prior experience in an embedded accounting architecture or financial-systems design-review role at a fintech or crypto company
