As a Senior Software Developer on the Tax team, you will own complex, end-to-end engineering projects from problem definition through technical design, delivery, and ongoing improvement. You'll build and maintain full-stack experiences using React on the frontend and Python on the backend, contributing to both modern code and legacy systems (jQuery, Backbone) while helping modernize the codebase. You'll design and operate reliable services and integrations supporting tax filing, reporting, and critical client workflows.
You'll partner with Product, Design, Operations, Compliance, and other engineering teams to clarify requirements, surface trade-offs, and deliver practical solutions. You'll make thoughtful decisions about architecture, testing, observability, security, and maintainability, and use AI-native development workflows to improve design, implementation, debugging, and programming speed and quality. You'll raise the technical bar through design reviews, code reviews, documentation, pairing, and mentorship, participate in hiring and interviews, and help create a culture of clear communication, learning, and shared ownership.
You bring significant professional software engineering experience with a track record of shipping and operating production systems. You have strong full-stack development experience with React or comparable modern frontend frameworks, professional Python experience or demonstrated ability to become productive quickly in Python-based systems, and a history of leading complex technical projects and mentoring engineers. You possess strong engineering fundamentals including API design, automated testing, debugging, monitoring, and operational excellence, and can collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical partners in regulated or high-trust environments. You communicate clearly, exercise sound judgment, maintain a low-ego approach to feedback and teamwork, and use AI-first development workflows thoughtfully while maintaining engineering rigor.
Helpful experience includes fintech, tax, accounting, payments, or regulated financial-services domains; familiarity with Canada Revenue Agency processes or tax-filing products; experience with accounting platforms like QuickBooks; experience modernizing legacy frontend codebases; and experience in fast-moving product engineering environments with broad individual ownership.
