Clio is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join its Fintech engineering portfolio in Toronto. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on building and evolving critical client-facing features within Clio Manage, the company's industry-leading case management platform for law firms.
You will own the full lifecycle of features you build—from design and implementation through monitoring, iteration, and long-term support. Your primary focus will be on helping attorneys create more efficient invoicing processes, enabling them to easily summarize work and prepare clear, accurate invoices for client review. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams across payments, accounting, and reporting to ensure seamless end-to-end user journeys.
Day-to-day responsibilities include solving complex technical problems with a team of developers, working in an agile environment with full-stack developers on diverse projects, reviewing and providing code feedback across teams, diagnosing and solving problems that span multiple areas, and mentoring fellow engineers. You'll work with Ruby on Rails as a primary technology, though the role values learning new technologies quickly and working effectively in distributed, evolving environments.
Ideal candidates bring experience building web applications at scale using Ruby on Rails, demonstrated success mentoring developers in agile and large-scale SaaS contexts, and a diverse technical knowledge base. However, the company emphasizes that curiosity, a drive to learn, and a commitment to shipping quality code matter most. They have successfully cross-trained developers from Java, Python, C++, and JavaScript backgrounds and are happy to help you learn Ruby.
