As Senior Software Developer, Backend, you will report to the Manager of Software Development and own the design and evolution of scoring, availability, and redistribution systems that match provider capacity with member demand to enable fast, reliable appointment scheduling at scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, improve, and operate mission-critical backend applications and API services
- Partner with Operations and non-technical stakeholders to establish shared context and align on solutions
- Identify, refine, and prioritize work items by business value in collaboration with product management
- Author technical design documents to align the team on clear, well-reasoned solutions
- Write accurate, readable, testable code and maintainable test suites that exemplify best practices
- Mentor other developers through code review, documentation, and direct guidance
Requirements:
- 5+ years of meaningful backend experience with services, APIs, distributed systems, and data modeling
- Comfortable designing software and communicating technical decisions and tradeoffs with colleagues
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures (or willingness to learn on the job)
- Familiarity with data synchronization architectures (or willingness to learn on the job)
- Experience building or contributing to automation-heavy systems, schedulers, decision engines, or domain workflows with complex business rules
- Comfortable integrating optimization logic (e.g., OR-Tools/CP-SAT) or ML-driven outputs into production backend flows
- Deep commitment to correctness, reliability, and idempotency, especially in systems that modify real-world schedules
- Fluency in modern backend tooling: CI/CD, version control, automated tests, observability stacks, and infrastructure-as-code
- Ability to collaborate across functions with data scientists, data developers, DevSecOps, and operations teams
- React Native / front-end framework experience is a plus
