Lab37 Robotics is hiring a Senior Simulation Engineer to build and own discrete-event simulation capabilities for robotic food-production systems. You will develop end-to-end production models (equipment, labor, material flow, queues, capacity, operating policies) to identify bottlenecks, evaluate system designs, and guide capital and operational decisions across the Bowl Builder and broader kitchen systems. Key responsibilities include: building discrete-event simulation models using tools like AnyLogic, Simio, SimPy, or Arena; conducting time studies and characterizing stochastic inputs (order arrivals, cycle times, failures, labor variability) from operational data; extending models from single-robot to multi-station kitchen flow; validating models against operational telemetry; and conducting what-if analysis for capacity planning, bottleneck analysis, line balancing, equipment sizing, and facility layout. You will work closely with hardware, robotics, and operations teams to ground models in real system behavior and translate findings into clear, decision-ready recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This is a senior individual-contributor role with the opportunity to establish simulation as a central capability in how Lab37 designs, tests, deploys, and operates its systems. Required qualifications: Bachelor's or advanced degree in Industrial Engineering or Operations Research (or related quantitative field with substantial simulation experience); 3+ years in industrial engineering, operations research, manufacturing systems, or discrete-event simulation; hands-on experience with commercial or custom simulation platforms; deep knowledge of production systems, queueing, capacity analysis, line balancing, and design of experiments; track record of models driving real equipment, process, facility, or staffing decisions; ability to model complex, constraint-driven production systems end-to-end and validate against imperfect real-world data; working proficiency in Python and SQL; strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Desirable: experience in manufacturing, automation, fulfillment, food production, or high-throughput operations.
