Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history, delivering empirical data via a cloud-based platform to commercial, environmental, and humanitarian sectors. As a Senior Service Delivery Manager, you will oversee the end-to-end delivery and operational excellence of Planet's geographically diverse Ground Station network—a complex system of physical antennas, network and compute resources, cloud infrastructure, and industrial controllers that autonomously track and communicate with multiple satellite constellations.
You will lead the strategic deployment and operational readiness of the commercial ground station network, managing construction and infrastructure projects in close coordination with external hosting providers. Your responsibilities include managing the entire contract lifecycle in collaboration with Legal and cross-functional stakeholders, building and forecasting the annual operations budget in partnership with leadership and technical leads, and providing consistent updates on project milestones and operational status to technical leads, finance partners, and executive leadership.
You will facilitate recurring sprint planning sessions, communicate alignment between technical velocity and organizational objectives, and work closely with Spacecraft Operators and Mission Control engineers to autonomously control spacecraft and bring data back to Earth. This role requires 6+ years of relevant work experience, a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, and previous Technical Program Management or Construction Management experience. You should excel at organizational management and high-volume task prioritization, possess basic programming skills in scripting and data analysis, and be willing to travel up to 25% of the time. Experience with Bash, Python, Linux/UNIX servers, IP Networks, or aerospace is a plus. The role is hybrid, requiring 3 days per week in the San Francisco office.
