Datadog is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to lead vulnerability management across its multi-cloud observability platform. In this role, you will own the full vulnerability lifecycle—from detection and impact assessment through risk-based prioritization, remediation, and verification. You'll combine hands-on engineering with security judgment to scale vulnerability processes across Datadog's products and services.
Key responsibilities include: designing and building AI-powered tools and automation to streamline vulnerability workflows; reducing engineering toil through a "PRs, not tickets" approach that delivers fixes directly; analyzing recurring vulnerabilities to identify root causes and prevent issues earlier in the SDLC; partnering with SDLC Security, Product Security, platform, and engineering teams to balance technical constraints with business impact; and providing subject matter expertise for compliance frameworks (SOC2, HIPAA, PCI, FedRAMP, ISO).
You will work independently on complex technical problems using languages like Go, Python, or Java. You have deep experience identifying and driving remediation of vulnerabilities in large-scale software, cloud, or infrastructure environments. You're comfortable with cloud-native architectures, containers, orchestration platforms, infrastructure-as-code, and modern software-delivery workflows. You can reproduce and validate externally reported vulnerabilities and use data-driven approaches (exploitability, exposure, technical context, business impact) to make risk decisions.
You thrive in ambiguous situations, breaking problems down, testing assumptions, failing fast, and adjusting as new information emerges. You use AI-assisted tools thoughtfully and can explain your reasoning. You influence across teams through clear communication, technical credibility, and solutions that reduce friction. A BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience) is expected.
