Cogent Security is building an AI cyber taskforce—autonomous AI agents capable of human-level reasoning to protect organizations from emerging threats. The company was founded by seasoned engineering and product leaders from Abnormal Security, Coinbase, Microsoft, Tesla, and Stripe, and recently raised a large Seed round led by Greylock Partners.
As Senior Security Engineer, Product Security, you will own the security posture of Cogent's software platform. You'll embed security into the software development lifecycle through threat modeling, secure design reviews, and hands-on secure-coding guidance that engineers actually adopt. Your responsibilities include owning application security testing (code review, SAST/DAST, triage), hardening the software supply chain (dependency verification, safe dependency management, CI/CD pipeline security), and building automated security tooling and guardrails that scale with engineering velocity.
You'll serve as the internal security subject-matter expert, influencing product decisions and acting as an early user of the platform, with direct feedback loops into what ships. You'll partner across all teams on architecture and design to make security a default, not an afterthought.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years of hands-on product/application security experience, strong software engineering skills across the stack (Python, Go, or similar), and deep expertise in secure SDLC, threat modeling, code scanning, and supply-chain security. You're comfortable shipping and automating, not just managing process. Fluency with the modern AI landscape and how it influences security is essential. You thrive in early-stage startup environments with high ownership, ambiguity, and direct impact. Bonus experience includes securing AI/ML products, agentic systems, developer-enablement programs, or building AppSec functions from scratch.
