K2 Space is building the largest and highest-power satellites ever flown, backed by $450M in funding from leading investors including Altimeter Capital, Redpoint Ventures, and T. Rowe Price. The company is mass-producing advanced satellite platforms for missions from low Earth orbit to deep space, with multiple launches planned through 2026 and 2027. As Senior Security Engineer for Operations, you will own detection and response for K2's corporate environment. The role is hands-on and high-impact: you'll run and mature the SIEM platform, build detections against real adversary tradecraft, triage alerts, and drive incidents from first signal through containment, eradication, and lessons learned. You'll work across identity, endpoints, SaaS, network, and cloud telemetry, closing visibility gaps you identify rather than simply documenting them. Key responsibilities include: - Own day-to-day detection and response across the corporate environment, from alert triage and investigation through containment and remediation - Administer and mature the SIEM, including log source onboarding, parsing and normalization, telemetry enrichment, rule tuning, and platform health, retention, and cost optimization - Write, test, and maintain detection rules based on real-world adversary tradecraft - Investigate and respond to security incidents with urgency and rigor - Close visibility gaps across infrastructure and applications - Support the broader security team in maturing detection and response capabilities This role is ideal for someone who thrives on real-world impact, operates with urgency when it counts, and is excited about contributing to a groundbreaking Series C space startup. Every detection you write and every incident you resolve directly supports K2's ability to move fast, operate confidently, and deliver breakthrough satellite capabilities to commercial and US government customers.
