Veeam is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to support the development and growth of Veeam Data Cloud (VDC), a cloud-native SaaS platform delivering secure data protection services on Microsoft Azure and AWS for customers in regulated industries. This role owns hands-on security engineering for VDC's regulated environments, starting with the FedRAMP boundary but extending to broader regulated customer needs as the platform scales.
You will partner closely with product, platform engineering, and SRE teams to embed compliant, secure-by-design patterns into everything shipped—designing controls that satisfy NIST 800-53 today while adapting to other frameworks as the company expands. This is an individual contributor role with significant scope to shape how security engineering scales across VDC's regulated footprint. You will work independently on complex, ambiguous problems and set baselines, review practices, and remediation standards to keep VDC compliant and secure at scale.
Key responsibilities include: championing secure design patterns and compliance-driven engineering across VDC's cloud environments; supporting the design and onboarding of new workloads into regulated environments from a security compliance perspective; partnering with engineering to harden shared infrastructure against secure baselines such as STIGs and CIS benchmarks; overseeing vulnerability scanning and providing remediation guidance; supporting configuration management and change control; reviewing significant architecture changes and providing security input on approvals; building reusable, framework-agnostic guardrails and evidence for scaling controls across FedRAMP and emerging regulatory requirements; reviewing application and platform code for security deficiencies; aligning product roadmaps across commercial, government, and other environments; and participating in an on-call rotation to respond to and resolve security alerts.
Required qualifications include 8+ years in security engineering with hands-on experience securing cloud environments. The role requires US citizenship due to work with highly sensitive data and federal customers. Security clearance is not required but may be requested in the future.
