New Relic is hiring a Senior Security Engineer to join the Infrastructure Assurance team within the Information Security organization. This role is based in Hyderabad and serves as a senior technical resource for the Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) region, responsible for safeguarding New Relic's global infrastructure including servers, networks, workstations, and cloud environments. You will operate as a senior technical figure, collaborating across diverse teams to develop and improve security tools and controls. Key responsibilities include educating product and platform engineers on security best practices for multi-cloud and Kubernetes environments, providing security design guidance and conducting security reviews to ensure secure-by-design principles, and establishing yourself as a security authority with deep understanding of engineering team roadmaps and priorities. You will mentor and coach junior team members, removing technical roadblocks as needed, and cultivate relationships across IT, Compliance, Product Legal & Privacy, and non-engineering teams on multi-functional work streams. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent, 4+ years of cloud or infrastructure engineering experience, and 2+ years of infrastructure security experience. You must have hands-on experience securing multi-account AWS environments, strong understanding of Identity and Access Management (roles, policies, SCPs), and experience performing security reviews in SaaS and cloud environments. Knowledge of modern DevOps, containerization, network security controls, and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, FedRAMP, CIS Critical 18, PCI DSS) is essential. You should be able to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences, lead cross-company objectives, work autonomously, and maintain clear documentation. Nice-to-have skills include 2+ years with Kubernetes, threat modeling experience, multi-cloud security (Azure, Google Cloud), infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Chef, Ansible), programming proficiency (Python, Ruby, Go), and understanding of reliability-security tradeoffs in SaaS organizations.
