Beacon AI is building an AI platform to enhance aviation safety, efficiency, and capability. The company operates with DoD contracts and partnerships with major airlines, delivering mission-critical flight safety systems.
As Senior Security Engineer, you will design and operate secure systems protecting sensitive data and mission-critical technology across commercial and Department of Defense environments. This is a hands-on role requiring close collaboration with software engineering teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement secure architectures for applications, cloud infrastructure, and data systems
- Protect sensitive data through access management, encryption, and secure data handling controls
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security reviews to identify and mitigate risks
- Lead incident response efforts including detection, containment, remediation, and analysis
- Integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle
- Implement and operate security monitoring and logging for real-time threat detection and response
You bring 5–9 years of hands-on security engineering experience securing complex systems and data. You have strong knowledge of security principles, threat modeling, and defensive practices. You're proficient with security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanning, encryption) and familiar with frameworks like NIST, ISO 27001, and CMMC. You collaborate effectively with software engineers and have a hands-on, analytical problem-solving mindset.
Bonus qualifications include aviation/aerospace/DoD experience, zero trust architecture knowledge, and certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH.
