You will own the design and optimization of search systems across multiple entity types. Core responsibilities include building and improving indexing, query planning, retrieval, and ranking pipelines. You'll design metrics and feedback loops to measure search quality, run offline evaluations and production experiments, and tune results using relevance, popularity, personalization, and contextual signals. You'll explore semantic and embedding-based search approaches where applicable and work closely with backend and product teams to ship improvements.
You must bring senior-level production experience building search systems with deep expertise in indexing, query planning, retrieval, and ranking. Geospatial search experience is required. You should have hands-on experience designing search quality metrics, running experiments, and implementing feedback loops. You need strong backend engineering fundamentals and the ability to reason about latency, relevance, correctness, and scale across complex systems.
Nice-to-have skills include experience with local search, maps, discovery, or multi-entity search; semantic search, embeddings, ranking, recommendations, or personalization; Rust-based search/indexing systems; and building search over heterogeneous entity types.
The company operates on a 5-day onsite model in central Paris near Opéra (Metro lines 3, 8, 9, and RER A).
