Salary: USD 128,000 - 171,000 / annual
Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Senior Scientist to join its Rocket Motor Systems business line. This role focuses on the design, development, and manufacturing of next-generation solid rocket motors for defense and space applications.
Key responsibilities include executing production rocket motor contracts as the program propellant chemist, serving as principal investigator on internal R&D efforts, and providing technical guidance on explosives chemistry and manufacturing. You will maintain technical databases, analyze data for specification and regulatory compliance, and support implementation of innovative techniques and technologies.
Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field plus 2 years of experience (or equivalent with master's/bachelor's degrees and additional years). You must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant aerospace/defense industry experience, preferably in solid rocket motor production, with demonstrated expertise in rocket motor manufacturing areas such as composite propellants, energetic materials, or case/nozzle/insulation design. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Secret Security Clearance are essential.
Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. or M.S. in Chemistry with concentration in energetic materials, polymer chemistry, or reactive materials; 3+ years of aerospace/defense experience; demonstrated propellant formulation experience at laboratory or production scale; active DOD Secret or Top-Secret clearance; and relevant publications or conference presentations.
