Salary: USD 146,000 - 194,000 / annual
Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Senior SCADA Controls Engineer to join the Manufacturing Automation team in Costa Mesa, California. The Manufacturing Automation team is responsible for designing, integrating, and deploying automated manufacturing systems across Anduril factories at a national scale.
In this role, you will design functional HMIs and SCADA screens aligned with Anduril's internal branding standards using Ignition by Inductive Automation. You will architect SCADA applications that are organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable for high-volume manufacturing environments. You will generate and enforce internal standards for SCADA systems and integrate internal and external manufacturing software into automation equipment and production lines.
Key responsibilities include leading root cause analysis and corrective actions for automation failures to ensure rapid resolution and long-term reliability, partnering with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot SCADA issues, reduce downtime, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires willingness to work off-shift or irregular hours as needed.
This is an individual contributor role focused on technical expertise in SCADA systems and manufacturing automation. You will guide the technical direction of automation systems across the organization and mentor junior engineers through your expertise and best practices.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities
- Must be US security clearance eligible
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent with relevant experience
- 6+ years of experience in SCADA and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) applications
- Proficiency in Ignition by Inductive Automation (Ignition Gold Certification required)
- Strong understanding of communications protocols: REST API, MQTT, AMQP, OPC UA, Modbus, and BACnet
- Knowledge and understanding of PLC-based control systems
- Proficiency in higher-level languages such as Python and HTML
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- AWS infrastructure understanding
- Understanding of network hardening protocols
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification
