Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Robotics Software Engineer to join the Sentry Tower Software team in Irvine, California. Sentry Tower develops robotic systems that provide force protection capabilities by monitoring perimeters of secure areas on land and sea, detecting approaching people, vehicles, and vessels. The team leverages advanced sensor fusion and autonomy to integrate activity data into Lattice OS, Anduril's AI-powered operating system that serves as a real-time 3D command and control center. In this role, you will own feature development and rollout for current and next-generation Sentry Tower systems. Recent examples of work include building simulation environments (SITL/HITL), implementing security requirements, integrating sensors (cameras, GPS, ADSB), creating APIs for robotic arm actuation, and refining build systems. You will design and implement software that supports operation by both human operators and autonomous planning agents, taking responsibility for service ownership to ensure functionality, reliability, and alignment with customer objectives. Key responsibilities include submitting well-documented, tested pull requests; architecting and scaling custom real-time communication and middleware systems; and effectively communicating technical trade-offs with stakeholders ranging from internal engineering customers to field personnel. Required qualifications include 4+ years of professional experience with Rust or C++, proficiency navigating the robotics system stack (sensors, compute, actuation) or deep expertise in low-level software and hardware interfacing, solid understanding of networking principles (CAN, Ethernet protocols), experience with hardware interfacing and diagnostic tools (Wireshark, CANoe), demonstrated experience designing software for high-volume data processing and sensor analysis, strong engineering background (CS, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics), experience with modern build systems (Nix, CMake) and CI/CD pipelines, and US person status with eligibility to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. Nice-to-have skills include Python or Go for tooling, controls experience (trajectory planning, inverse kinematics, sensor fusion), real-time systems and embedded software development expertise, and familiarity with custom data logging, observability pipelines, or edge-compute deployment strategies.
