Voyager Technologies is a space, defense, and national security technology company building mission-critical solutions for autonomous systems and space exploration. This Senior Robotics Software Engineer role focuses on developing perception systems for robotic rover platforms used in lunar and space applications. You will design and develop perception software for autonomous rovers and robotic spacecraft, with primary responsibilities including: building stereo vision and LiDAR algorithms for visual-inertial odometry (VIO), hazard detection and avoidance (HDA), mapping, and localization; creating sensor fusion pipelines that integrate camera, LiDAR, IMU, RF, and navigation measurements; implementing feature detection, image registration, optical flow, and point cloud processing pipelines; designing kinematics-informed motion control and path planning systems; and optimizing robotics software for embedded ARM processors and heterogeneous compute platforms including GPUs and FPGAs. Additional responsibilities include integrating robotics algorithms into flight software architectures, developing simulation tools and sensor models for algorithm validation, and creating automated testing frameworks including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) verification systems. Minimum qualifications include a BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Aerospace, or related field; 5+ years of hands-on experience developing algorithms for real-world problems; strong programming skills in modern C++ and Python; and experience shipping production software in Linux environments. Preferred qualifications include an MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field; background in sensor processing, robotics, and GNC systems; field-testing experience with full robotic systems; technical knowledge of perception algorithms including computer vision, 3D point cloud processing, state estimation, sensor fusion, and SLAM; experience with various sensor modalities (camera, LiDAR, radar, IMU, GPS); GIS experience; and experience training and deploying deep learning models. The position reports to the Software & Controls Manager and is based in Pittsburgh, PA as part of the Software & Controls Department.
