Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology. The company's Lattice OS is an AI-powered operating system that converts thousands of data streams into a real-time 3D command and control center.
The Maneuver Dominance team develops operationally relevant multi-asset autonomy systems. Omen is Anduril's hover-to-cruise autonomous air vehicle (AAV) that combines the endurance, payload, and mission flexibility of larger airplanes in a novel runway-independent Group 3 platform. Omen can operate from ship decks, beaches, or remote island clearings, providing true runway independence. The platform has secured a mass-production contract for 50 systems.
In this Senior Robotics Software Engineer role, you will own mission autonomy systems and services deployed to customers. You will solve complex problems involving networking, autonomy, systems integration, robotics, perception, and related domains while making pragmatic engineering tradeoffs. Your responsibilities include:
- Owning mission autonomy systems and services deployed to customers
- Writing code to improve products and scale mission capability to more customers
- Collaborating across multiple teams to plan, build, and test complex functionality
- Creating and analyzing metrics for debugging and monitoring
- Triaging issues, root-causing failures, and coordinating next steps
- Partnering with end-users to translate needs into features while balancing user experience with engineering constraints
- Traveling up to 25% of the time to build, test, and deploy capabilities in real-world environments
You will need strong systems-level knowledge and a "Whatever It Takes" mindset—executing in an expedient, scalable, and pragmatic way while keeping the mission top-of-mind and making sound engineering decisions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong engineering background from industry or school in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics
- 8+ years of professional industry experience with C++ or Rust programming languages
- Experience building software solutions involving significant amounts of data processing and analysis
- Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases
- Desire to work on critical software with real-world impact
- Willingness to travel up to 25% for testing and demonstrations
- Active U.S. Secret security clearance (required)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong background in Physics, Mathematics, and/or Motion Planning to inform modeling & simulation (M&S) and physical systems
- Experience developing and testing multi-agent autonomous systems and deploying in real-world environments
- Feature and algorithm development with understanding of behavior trees
- Software/hardware development for flight systems and safety-critical functionality
- Experience with distributed communication networks and message standards
