Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Robotics Engineer to drive the development of autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) perception and planning systems. You will own end-to-end delivery of major subsystems including sensor integration, perception architecture, motion planning, health management, and simulation infrastructure for next-generation maritime platforms like Dive-XL, Dive-LD, and Copperhead. Key responsibilities include designing safe navigation and collision avoidance systems, implementing scalable perception and planning subsystems, leveraging computer vision and sensor fusion to enhance autonomous capabilities, and conducting rigorous validation through simulation and real-world testing. You will collaborate across software, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to ensure effective integration and support the full product lifecycle from architecture through sustainment. The role requires deep technical ownership—you will define requirements, manage roadmaps, coordinate teams, and mentor junior engineers. Travel to customer sites and partner teams is expected up to 20% of the time. This is a hands-on technical leadership position where you drive autonomous system innovation in the maritime defense domain, working on systems executing billion-dollar contracts and Robot-as-a-Service operations. Required: Bachelor's in Robotics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent; proficiency in C++ and/or Python; familiarity with autonomous vehicle sensors (radar, sonar, LIDAR, cameras); demonstrated expertise in computer vision, sensor fusion, SLAM, motion planning, or machine learning; prior senior perception or planning role on a robotic system; ability to act as technical owner for subsystems; and eligibility for U.S. Secret security clearance. Preferred: Experience with autonomous systems in ground, air, maritime, or space domains; familiarity with simulation tools (Gazebo, Unity, Unreal Engine).
